When you renew registration on a vehicle more than five years old. It stays valid for six months from the inspection, so you can have it done up to six months before your registration is due.

A major service has no set price: it is quoted to your car, and covers the logbook items plus the larger interval items for your car, such as filters, fluids and plugs where they are due. A pink slip is $52, an eSafety inspection lodged electronically with Transport for NSW so you can renew online. Exhaust, braking, tyres, steering, suspension and lights are all on its list. Battery replacement is from $139; the old battery is load-tested before a new one is fitted, and the charging system is checked afterwards. Not sure what is wrong? The diagnostic is a fault-code scan and a road test, $49, then a written quote for any repair.
